Until now, hydraulics has been the main energy source for the braking system. Messier-Bugatti supplies all equipment necessary for braking, notably the hydraulic units (including the large units used for the steering systems), pumps (self-regulating pumps mechanically driven by the motor and now electrically-driven mini-pumps) and filtration systems.
The principle of decentralized hydraulic generation was applied for the first time on the A380, for the alternate circuits, respectively for the flight controls (primary), braking system and the wheel steering system.
Messier-Bugatti has built up extensive experience in making uplocks for the landing gear and gear doors, with more than 45,000 uplocks supplied to date, logging over 180 million retraction/extension operations. The number of operations is of course increasing as quickly as the number of landings.
